Project grants

A total of £300,000 funding is available for research projects. We are looking at funding several projects worth anywhere up to £150,000 each.

We encourage applications for smaller grants, especially from early-career researchers.

Researchers should be based at a research institution in the UK or Republic of Ireland. We are inviting applications looking at any aspect of glaucoma care, such as improved diagnosis, monitoring, treatment or management of glaucoma. We will also fund projects which improve our understanding of the causes of glaucoma.

Applications open at the UKEGS conference each year, with decisions being made in June.

PhD studentship

We are funding one three-year PhD studentship with a grant of up to £120,000.

Applicants should be based at a research institution in the UK or Republic of Ireland. We are looking to fund a studentship into any aspect of glaucoma care, or which will improve our understanding of the causes of glaucoma. We are also looking for a setting which will support someone in the early stages of their career, providing excellent development opportunities and laying the foundation for a successful future in glaucoma research.

Glaucoma UK provides funding for one PhD student on a rolling three-year basis.
